Description
Reporting to the Systems Manager, this position is part of the Enhancements Team supporting Individual Insurance Call Centre and Internet applications. You will have opportunity to deliver development tasks as well as provide technical input into new solutions within the team and the department. This role operates within a team of twelve including Business Systems Analysts and Developers and will include working with vendors (IBM), various other business units and the customers. Additionally you will have some technical oversight and be accountable for code review prior to production.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain programs from business specifications
- Develop detailed unit test plans, and execute these plans
- Provide on-call support of production problems
- Apply technical and business knowledge to identify, analyze and solve systems problems
Qualifications
- 4 – 6+ years of demonstrated professional OO development experience in a large complex IS organization
- Strong working knowledge with Java, Delphi, .NET, Websphere, SQL, BizTalk, Visual Studio 2005/2008
- Strong knowledge of Systems Development and Project Management Methodologies
- Strong skills in design, programming and testing in client server and internet environments
- Post-secondary degree in computer sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Individual insurance experience would be helpful
- Experience within an Insurance/Financial Services industry would be an asset
